Design decisions that make CNC projects clearer
Use this section to connect CNC part design with the part, production, quality, and delivery decisions that affect the project.
Start with what the part must do. Identify mating faces, motion, loads, sealing, fasteners, assembly access, and cosmetic surfaces before refining individual features.
Design each feature around tool access and workholding. Deep pockets, narrow slots, sharp internal corners, thin walls, and features that require multiple setups can increase machining effort or affect stability.
Use the drawing to define what the model alone cannot communicate. Units, datums, tolerances, threads, edge conditions, surface requirements, inspection notes, and revision status give the manufacturing team a shared acceptance basis.
Choose material and finish together. Grade, stock condition, heat treatment, coating, anodizing, blasting, or polishing can influence dimensions, appearance, and the order of operations.
Before requesting a quote, send the model, drawing, quantity, material, finish, delivery target, and any required inspection records. Those inputs allow the route and acceptance plan to be reviewed together.
