EDM machining
Discuss EDM, conventional machining and inspection together with Aria’s engineering team.

Resolve the difficult feature within the complete part
A hardened cavity or a detailed profile can determine how the rest of the part is manufactured. Aria offers wire EDM, sinker EDM and hole drilling alongside our CNC capabilities. We review the material condition, access and required surface with your drawing so the EDM work fits the overall manufacturing plan.
You can discuss the finished part with the team across these operations. Identify the feature that is difficult to cut and the dimensions that need inspection; we can review those alongside any milling or turning the part needs.
Capabilities

Examples include brass, copper, tool steel, titanium and stainless steel.
Wire EDM
A moving wire electrode cuts through conductive stock. Enclosed profiles generally need a start hole for the wire.
Sinker EDM
A shaped electrode erodes a cavity in conductive stock. Electrode design and flushing access affect the cavity geometry.
EDM hole drilling
A tubular electrode erodes a hole in conductive stock. The hole size, depth and access determine the electrode and process setup.
EDM process ranges
| Parameter | Range | Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum part size | 400 × 300 × 200 mm | Confirm the drawing, material, geometry and inspection requirements during quotation. |
| Precision feature capability | 0.005 mm | Confirm the drawing, material, geometry and inspection requirements during quotation. |
| Surface roughness | Ra 0.2 μm | Confirm the drawing, material, geometry and inspection requirements during quotation. |
| Material requirement | Electrically conductive materials | Examples include brass, copper, tool steel, titanium and stainless steel. |
How Aria supports your project

Design feedback before production
We review tool access, geometry and material choice before manufacturing.
Inspection to your drawing
Dimensional checks and inspection reports for the critical features on your drawing.
A schedule for your order
Tooling, finishing and inspection included in your delivery schedule.
Advantages and considerations
Advantages
EDM can machine conductive material after hardening and reach detailed cavities or profiles with minimal conventional cutting force.
Considerations
The workpiece must be electrically conductive. Electrode preparation, erosion time and the required surface condition can make EDM less suitable than cutting for simple bulk removal.
