Review the sliding contact and the machined fit together

For a bronze bushing or bearing component, tell Aria about the mating part, loads and important dimensions. We help you discuss the selected alloy, machining and inspection requirements together. Keep the alloy and material condition explicit; the C93200 reference values below do not describe every bronze option.

Material options

PropertyDetails
ColorsReddish-golden metallic
Special propertiesAlternatives include phosphor bronze C51000 for spring/corrosion requirements and aluminum bronze C95400/C95500 for higher strength; C54400 is another distinct grade.

Detailed values describe C93200 / SAE 660 bearing bronze, as cast. Family ranges are broader selection references and may include different grades or reinforcement levels. Confirm the selected grade, condition and test method for your part. Melting temperature is not a working-temperature limit; use the mill certificate for the specified alloy and temper.

Bearing-bronze comparisonC93200 is a leaded tin bearing bronze, nominally about 83% Cu, 7% Sn, 7% Pb and 3% Zn. GB ZCuSn5Pb5Zn5 has different nominal Sn/Pb/Zn levels and is not an equivalent replacement.
Before orderingGrade names listed for comparison are not a blanket equivalence declaration. Agree the product standard, edition, delivery condition and required certificate before approving a substitution.

Advantages and considerations

Environment & surface

Advantages

Good wear and friction behavior, machinability and resistance to seawater/saltwater environments. Bearing bronze can accommodate embedded particles in suitable lubricated applications.

Load & part geometry

Material limitations

Moderate load capacity, possible casting porosity and lead content. It is not a universal choice for high-load structures or lead-restricted applications.

Applications

Typical applications

Bearings, bushings, slides, worm wheels, pump and valve parts and wear plates operating with suitable clearance and lubrication.

Design considerations

Processing options

CNC turning of cast or continuously cast rod/tube, milling, drilling and boring. Allow for casting skin, porosity and machining stock.

Finishing options

Polishing, blasting and clear lacquer where appropriate. Bearing fits commonly use a fine turned or bored natural surface.

Grade and finish combinations

Assess porosity for pressure or sealing parts, choose lead-free material where needed, and specify clearance, lubrication and wear limits for the assembly rather than treating one replacement threshold as universal.

Color and grade options

Natural reddish-golden metallic color. Polished or blasted surfaces; clear lacquer on suitable nonbearing areas.

Bearing wear and replacement criteria

Set bearing replacement limits from the assembly’s permitted clearance, lubrication, load, speed and alignment. A fixed radial-wear threshold such as 0.1 mm is not suitable for every bronze bearing. Inspect the shaft and housing as well as the bushing, and use the drawing or maintenance specification to decide replacement.
